Do you need an estimate?
No, you do not need an estimate before getting your vehicle repaired. This is because the initial estimate is only a visual estimate that does not take into account any hidden damage. All damaged parts of the vehicle must be assessed to calculate the real cost of repairs, so a visual estimate will actually be inaccurate.
What is a deductible?
A deductible is the amount of money specified by your auto insurance policy that you pay towards your repairs before insurance covers the rest. They usually range from $100 to $500, though some insurance companies have vanishing deductibles that will lower your deductible every year you are accident free.
What is a preferred list shop?
A preferred shop is one that has entered in to an agreement with an insurer to be on their preferred list in exchange for meeting the insurers benchmarks that may include labor rate concessions, alternative parts usage, and repair methodology benchmarks.
What are OEM Parts?
OEM Parts or Original Equipment Manufacturer Parts are directly from the maker of your vehicle.
What are Aftermarket Parts?
Aftermarket Parts are not manufactured by the maker of your vehicle, but by a 3rd party company. Though these parts resemble OEM Parts while being less expensive, they are not guaranteed to fit your vehicle.
What are LKQ Parts?
LKQ or Like Kind in Quality are parts that were taken from another vehicle that was considered un-repairable
What is a Supplement?
A supplement is a request for insurance to cover additional parts, labor, procedures, or price increases that were not included in their first estimate.
What is a Betterment?
A betterment is when your insurance charges you for a portion of the repairs or parts based on the premise that it is a wearable item example a tire that is 50% worn is being replaced and the insurer feel they only owe a % of the cost to replace that tire.
What is a Total Loss?
A total loss means the cost of repairs will exceed the current value of the vehicle.
What is an appearance allowance?
An appearance allowance is when a customer is compensated a portion of the total cost of a part that has minor damage with an agreement not to have that part replaced.
